INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The 2023 College Football season is just around the corner, and the preseason would not be complete without some ‘way too early’ rankings. The Top 25 Coaches Poll, released on Monday, August 7, gave college football fans a taste of what’s to come in just a few weeks.
Coming in at number one, with little surprise to absolutely no one, were the two-time reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs. The Michigan Wolverines took the number two spot, while Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU rounded out the Top 5. The Texas Longhorns were the first Texas team to make the list at number 12. The first Big 12 school in the rankings was the national runner-up TCU Horned Frogs, at 16. Kansas State (17), Oklahoma (19), and Texas Tech (24) also made the list from the Big 12 Conference. Finally, Texas A&M (25) was the final Texas school that made the Top 25. Georgia received 61 first-place votes, with Alabama (4) and Ohio State (1) also receiving first-place votes.
