SAN ANGELO, TX — Lake View High School and Lake View Basketball Head Coach Courtney John Bliskey put on a basketball skills summer camp for the kids in San Angelo this week. The skills camp began on Monday, July 17, and ran through Thursday, July 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every evening.
Incoming 8th and 9th-grade student-athletes gathered at Lake View High School to learn, practice, and improve skills and techniques that will benefit them in their basketball acumen and ability.
Check out a video of the action from the last day at the camp below:
“Coach Arnold and I thought that overall, this camp was probably the best group we’ve had in the seven summers we’ve done this,” Lake View’s Head Coach Bliskey said on Thursday. “Camps like ours are important for a multitude of reasons. It gives these young guys something to look forward to and something to do in the summer. It adds to their arsenal of skills and continues to build the ones that they already have. It also helps promote the great sport of basketball.”
The young guys at the camp looked like they were having the time of their lives. Bliskey had them run through drills that helped their dribbling, practice situational shooting, and improve on their ability to defend.
“They end up telling their friends about what they did,” Bliskey continued. “The kids talk about how fun they had, and they can show off their skills all at the same time.”
Lake View needs these young athletes to develop into stellar basketball players so that the Chiefs can continue to compete in its tough district.
