Dave Campbell's HS Football Magazine 2023 Playoff Predictions for Concho Valley Teams

SAN ANGELO — Dave Campbells magazine has released statewide playoff predictions for Six-Man football through 4A and several Concho Valley teams are predicted to make the playoffs.

While it seems the players in the Concho Valley didn’t get a lot of love or even the Concho Valley teams, they do have several making pretty deep playoff runs.

Starting in 4A, the Lake View Chiefs did not make the preseason playoff predictions but teams in their district did. The Chiefs are in a district with Lubbock Estacado, Brownwood, Andrews, and Big Spring so one team will be on the outside looking in. According to the staff at Dave Campbell’s, that will be the Chiefs.

The Brownwood Lions are projected to match up El Paso Irvin in Bi-District, then against Dumas in Area, Wichita Falls in the Regional Semifinals, then losing to Decatur in the Regional Finals.

Lubbock Estacado would also take on an El Paso school in El Paso Bowie in Bi-District, then Canyon Randall in Area, then losing to Decatur in the Regional Semifinals. Big Spring takes on El Paso Austin in Bi-District then loses to Decatur in Area while Andrews loses in the opening round to El Paso Riverside.

Into 3A football, the Ballinger Bearcats, Brady Bulldogs, Early Longhorns, and the Wall Hawks are projected to make the playoffs, leaving out the Grape Creek Eagles and San Angelo TLCA Eagles.

The Hawks are projected to match up with Tornillo like last season. Wall wins that game in Bi-District, then beat Childress in Area, Abernathy in the Regional Semifinals, then lose to Canadian in the Regional Finals. The Wildcats are projected to go to state.

The Longhorns and the Bulldogs are supposed to win their Bi-District matchups against Odessa Compass and Alpine respectively, but both are projected to lose in the Area round to Canadian and Idalou. The Bearcats lose to Crane in the Bi-District round.

Into the 2A-DI classification, the Sonora Broncos are projected to beat the Olney Cubs in Bi-District, Farwell in Area, then lose to Hawley in the Regional Semifinals.

The rest of Sonora’s district, Reagan County, Forsan, and Christoval all lose in the opening round.

Mason beats Flatonia in Bi-District then loses to Shiner in Area.

2A-DII has the Miles Bulldogs against the McCamey Badgers in Bi-District then losing to Windthorst in Area.

Eldorado matches up with Albany in the Bi-District round and loses while Sterling City beats Roscoe in Bi-District then loses to Collinsville in Area.

In 1A-DI, Irion County and Menard both lose in the Bi-District round to May and Jonesboro respectively. 1A-DII has Richland Springs beating Sidney in Bi-District then losing to Loraine in Area while Blackwell is projected to lose to Rising Star in Bi-District.
