Local Cowboys and Cowgirls Saddle Up to Compete in the High School Rodeo Championship

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Texas High School Rodeo Championships kick off next week, and a group of cowboys and cowgirls from the Concho Valley are ready to compete.

The rodeo begins on June 1, 2023, and will continue throughout the month, with the finals taking place from June 6 to 11.

This year the rodeo will be held at the Taylor Telecom Arena at 1700 Highway 36 in Abilene.

Events during the rodeo will include boys cutting, girls cutting, reined cow horse, bareback, steer wrestling, barrel racing, breakaway roping, calf roping, saddle bronc, goat tying, team roping, pole bending, and bull riding.

The following is the list of athletes competing in the 2023 Texas High School Rodeo Championships from the Concho Valley:

  • Shaylee Edmonton - Mason - Reined Cow Horse
  • Wyatt Williams - San Angelo - Bareback
  • Jaspur Farris - Brady - Bareback
  • Avery Wardlaw - Sonora - Breakaway, Goat Tying, Pole Bending
  • Macy Hancock - San Angelo - Breakaway
  • Wyatt Harris - San Angelo - Calf Roping
  • Trevin Coffell - Mertzon - Calf Roping
  • Kiley Dean - Ozona - Goat Tying, Pole Bending
  • Kaitlee Wyatt - Lowake - Layne Rogers - Menard - Team Roping
  • Pace Anastas - Mason - Dos Davison - Lampasas - Team Roping
  • Levi Bishop - Ozona - Kurt Bean Ozona - Team Roping
  • Zoey Hortenstine - Bronte - Pole Bending

The entire rodeo will be available to watch and stream on the Cowboy Channel.
