SAN ANGELO, TX — The TLCA Eagles’ Athletic program had another one of its student-athletes sign to compete at the next level. Greg Heitzenrater signed his letter of intent to run track and cross country at Ottowa University in Kansas next school year. Friends, family, coaches, and the entire student body looked on and celebrated Heitzenrater’s accomplishments.
Check out the interview after the signing here:
At TLCA, Heitzenrater helped lead his Cross Country squad to Regionals this year. In track, the young man runs the 1600-meter run and the 800-meter run. He will compete in both Track and Cross Country when he gets to Kansas in the fall. Coaches Kent Sherrill, Matt Jones, and Jonah Masters stood before the gathered crowd to speak about Heitzenrater. The young man is a leader, an athlete, and a musician.
Angelo State offered Greg a scholarship to attend ASU for his music skills, but he decided to go with an athletic scholarship. When asked if he would continue his music at Ottowa, he laughed and said of course. TLCA now has three athletes signed at the next level. It is a testament to the coaching staff at TLCA for the kind of program they want to build.
