No. 2 Angelo State to Host Postseason Tournament

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 2 Angelo State Rams baseball team received great news just days after securing their third straight Lone Star Conference Tournament title. The NCAA selected the Rams as the top seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament. As the Top Seed, Angelo State will host the South Central Tournament for the third year in a row.

Angelo State defeated Lubbock Christian University 14-4 in the LSC championship game on Saturday, May 13. The top-seeded Rams beat the 4-seed Chapparrals by ten in eight innings. The Rams and Chaps traded the lead early on, but Angelo State’s 8-run third inning put the game out of reach.

The LSC named Austin Beck the tourney’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight season. He is the only player in the tournament’s history to do so. Jordan Williams, Justin Harris, Jacob Guerrero, and Kade Bragg made the All-Tournament Team.

Next up, the Rams will host the double-elimination South Central Regional Tournament at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium in San Angelo. Angelo State will play UT Tyler and MSU Denver to advance to the Super Regionals at the highest remaining seed the following week.

The date and Time for the South Central Regional Tournament are still to be determined and will be announced this week.
