ARLINGTON— The Dallas Cowboys have announced which numbers their rookies will be wearing to start training camp with.
If you’re waiting to get the most recent jersey of your favorite player, we now have the numbers each rookie will wear for the Dallas Cowboys.
- Mazi Smith- 58
- Luke Schoonmaker- 86
- DeMarvion Overshown- 35
- Viliami “Junior” Fehoko- 93
- Asim Richards- 76
- Eric Scott Jr.- 37
- Deuce Vaughn- 42
- Jalen Brooks- 83
Both Smith and Schoonmaker wore 58 and 86 respectively at college and Smith even wore 58 back in high school. Overshown wore 0, which the NFL just made available, at Texas but current Cowboys Micah Parsons and Jayron Kearse “fought” over the “Agent 0” designation, which Kearse ultimately won.
What is interesting is the Cowboys releasing “behind the scenes” videos of certain draft picks like this one where the front office and scouting department discussed taking Mazi Smith or, and many insiders think, Matthew Bergeron at 26th overall.
So don’t worry if you’ve already bought a Parsons “11” jersey, as it will remain the same.
Fehoko wore 42 at San Jose State and has switched to 93, which was probably most notable worn by Anthony Spencer back in the Wade Phillips/Jason Garrett Era.
Richards took 76, which has switched hands several times over the past few seasons.
Scott Jr. is wearing 37, which Donovan Wilson wore before switching to 6 when the NFL made changes to what positions could wear certain numbers.
Maybe the best pick of the Cowboys draft, one that reunited father and son, Deuce Vaughn will not wear his college number “22” in the NFL. That could be a mistake as the last time the Cowboys had a “22” on the field, they won three Super Bowls.
Jalen Brooks will be rocking 83, which was worn by both Terry Glenn back in the day and Terrance Williams more recently.
