Bushland ISD Softball Coach Resigns After Prostitution Sting Arrest

 

BUSHLAND, TX — Bushland High School’s Softball Coach, John Blair, has resigned following his arrest on Friday, April 28. According to jail and police records, he is being charged with soliciting a prostitute.

Bushland is in the Texas Panhandle outside of Amarillo. 

Per Lubbock County Detention Center records, Blair was booked on Saturday and released on bond Sunday. The police department confirms the arrest was part of a larger undercover, multi-agency sting operation in which more than 20 arrests were made.

Blair, 58, was in his first season with the Bushland Lady Falcons. Bushland, who is currently in the playoffs, will play their Area matchup against Littlefield in a best-of-three series without their Head Coach on Thursday, May 4.

Sunday April 30, 2023, the District administration was informed by a teacher/coach that he was arrested on state charges of solicitation of prostitution in Lubbock, Texas on or about April 29, 2023. The employee immediately tendered his resignation and was directed by school administration not to return to District property. This incident does appear to not involve any minors or any other District employee.

The District takes every allegation of educator misconduct seriously and endeavors for all its students to be educated in a safe and nurturing environment. Administration expects all employees to adhere to the District’s standards of professional conduct, maintain the dignity of the profession, respect and obey the law, demonstrate personal integrity, and exemplify honesty and good moral character. Consequently, the administration will cooperate with all applicable governmental authorities as may be required by law and policy.

If anyone has concerns of possible improper conduct by a school employee or any inappropriate behavior directed toward a student or child, please contact your school’s administration or local law enforcement.

State and federal law prohibit the District from disclosing confidential personnel information. Therefore, the District will not provide further information on this matter.
