Central Bobcats and Lady Cats Wrap Up Track in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX — The San Angelo Central Bobcats and Lady Cats competed on Day 2 of the Regional Track Meet in Arlington on Saturday after inclement weather canceled all meet activities that previous day. No longer running preliminaries, the ‘Cats had one chance to perform for their shot at State.

Logan Eubanks kicked events off for the ‘Cats in the 100-meter dash. He posted an 11.28 and while he did not qualify for state, he capped off his senior year with a regional qualification. Both the Bobcats and Lady Cats represented San Angelo in the 4x200-meter relay.

The Lady Cats (Taelye Self, Nevaeh Hearne, Alyssa Delgado, and Madison Delarosa) went first and posted a 145.99. The ladies ended their season at the Regional Meet but were still proud of their race. San Angelo LIVE!’s Ryan Chadwick met up with the ladies after their race to ask them how they felt they did. Check out the full interview here.

The Bocbats’ relay team (Landon Eubanks, Jordan Weatherspoon, Andres Diaz, and Tyler Hill) followed the ladies in the 4x200. The Bobcats ran well and placed 8th out of 16 teams with a 1:29.01. The ‘Cats had one more race to try and make the State Meet.

The Lady Cats finished their day with Alyssa Delgado in the 200-meter dash. Delgado finished her 2023 Track Season with a 25.92.

Finally, the Bobcats ran one final time in the 4x400-meter relay (Nathaniel Palos, Andres Diaz, Jordan Weatherspoon, and Tyler Hill). They finished just outside the top five in 7th place. The ‘Cats capped off their incredible season with a 3:23.19.

While none of the Bobcats advanced to the State Meet, the 2023 track season is a testament to what the Central Track program is building in San Angelo. The ‘Cats will be back at this meet with even more contestants in the future.
