WALL, TX — Wall Senior and Former Hawks’ Kicker Pierce Jameson wants the next generation of Wall kickers to flourish. On Monday, April 25, San Angelo LIVE!’s Ryan Chadwick met up with Hawks Head Coach Houston Guy and Pierce Jameson to discuss his plans to ensure future success on special teams for the Hawks.
Jameson plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall, where the young man will study Business Finance. However, before he leaves for school at the end, he wants to give fellow athletes and kids around the area a chance to learn how to kick from one of the best.
The All-State kicker knows a thing or two about kicking a football. Over his career with Wall, Jameson successfully converted 66-78 PATs and 8-10 field goals. His 85% PAT conversion rate and 80% field goal percentage are some of the best that Texas High School Football offers. More than once in his career, his kicking won the Hawks football games. When Wall came up against Jim Ned last season, points came at a premium. Neither defense yielded ground all game, and Jameson’s lone field goal was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hawks won that game 3-0.
Head Coach Houston Guy spoke at length about the young man. “Pierce has been a great addition to our football team. He’s one of those kids that has put in so many countless hours from the time he was young until the time he was a senior,” Coach Guy said. “He won some games for us, scored a lot of points for us, and was a mainstay in our offense this year.”
“He’s going to graduate (this year), and we’re sad about that. We wish we could have a kicker like him every year,” Guy continued. “You just hope that some of these kids could put in the work that (Jameson) did, you know, I know how much time he’s been up here in the summertime. I know his dad has spent hours holding the ball for him, doing some of the drills that will make him better.
Now that he is done with football and about to graduate, Jameson wants to offer kicking lessons right up until he leaves for school. He said that because he spent so much time in kicking camps and with kicking coaches throughout his life, he wants to impart the lessons he learned before leaving. “I’ve learned so much over the years from different coaches around Texas and all over. I feel like it’d be great to pass that information on to the younger generation,” Jameson said.
If anyone is interested in learning and improving their kicking game, Pierce says to give him a call. He leaves for school in August and is open to 1-on-1, and group lessons until he heads off to Texas A&M. Pierce can be reached at 325-276-7263.
