PITTSBURGH, PA — Los Angeles Rams Wide Receiver Allen Robinson might end his tenure in L.A. early. The Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers are working together to finalize a trade that would send the wideout to Pittsburgh.
According to Tom Pelissero on Twitter, “The Steelers are working to finalize a trade to acquire veteran WR Allen Robinson from the Rams and have been granted permission to give him a physical, per sources. If the Steelers are comfortable with the physical, Robinson is expected to land in Pittsburgh.”
After a disappointing season in Los Angeles, the move to Pittsburgh might be just what the veteran wide receiver needs. Last season, Robinson had 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns. His production fell way short of expectations on a Ram’s team one year removed from a Super Bowl Championship.
Robinson came to the Rams with the expectation that the free agent signing would fill the void left by Robert Woods’s departure. The Rams also needed a definite upgrade on the opposite side of All-Pro Receiver Cooper Kupp. Those expectations never panned out for the Rams.
After consecutive 1,100-plus-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020, Robinson has recorded a combined 749 yards and four receiving touchdowns between 2021 and 2022. In Los Angeles, he posted his lowest receiving total in a season since his one game played in 2017 with his 339 yards in 10 games.
Twitter is buzzing with Robinson’s remaining viability as a pro. People are concerned that the soon-to-be 30-year-old may have lost a step. The Steelers seem to think otherwise, so it looks like Robinson will get another chance to prove himself.
