GRAPE CREEK, TX — Grape Eagles stand-out Cougar Jetton signed to continue his football career at McMurry University on Friday, Feb. 25, at Grape Creek High School. The Eagles held a small ceremony for Jetton, and as friends and family looked on, he signed his papers with McMurry.
Cougar was a true jack of all trades on the football field during his career at Grape Creek. Like most 3A school football players, Jetton played both ways for the Eagles all season. Although playing both ways might be the standard, Jetton excelled on the field.
On Offense, Cougar carried the ball 83 times for 321 yards and one touchdown. He also added a passing touchdown during the season and three receptions for 30 yards.
On Defense, Jetton really shined. One of the best Eagles’ defenders tallied 109 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one defensive touchdown.
Congratulations, Cougar. The Community of Grape Creek and San Angelo looks forward to watching you play in the future.
