SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Lady Cats (1-2) hosted the Del Rio Queens at the Central Softball Complex at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20.
The Lady Cats got their bats going early and opened up the first inning with three runs. Del Rio battled back in the third inning, scoring four runs on several base hits that made it out of the infield. Central finally made it out of the inning but trailed, entering the bottom of the third, 4-3.
The Lady Cats presumably had enough of Del Rio scoring because Central shut out Del Rio for the remainder of the contest. Not only did the defense lock in, but the Ladies' bats exploded. Central put up four runs in the bottom of the third inning, five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and a final two in the bottom of the sixth.
Del Rio had no answer for Central’s offense, and the Lady Cats run-ruled Queens after the sixth inning, 14-4. The Lady Cats move to 2-2 on the young season and return to action for their home tournament, the Concho Classic Tournament, on Feb. 23.
