COVER1 Hoops: Concho Valley Roundup

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Several Concho Valley High School Basketball teams saw action over the weekend and return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Here are the matchups and results.

SAN ANGELO CENTRAL BOBCATS (18-4)

The Bobcats traveled to Brownwood on Saturday, Jan. 7, to play the China Spring Cougars at a neutral site in their last pre-district matchup before district 2-6A begins on Friday, Jan. 13, against the Midland Legacy Rebels.

After they fell to Lubbock Trinity Christian at home, the Bobcats returned to their winning ways when they dominated China Spring 70-46. Kollin Allbright led the Bobcats with 21 points. 

LADY CATS (13-13)(0-1)

The Central girls traveled to Wolfforth to play their first district matchup against the Frenship Tigers. Frenship is one of the best teams in their district this season, and they proved that against the Lady Cats. Central battled hard all game but fell 53-44.

The Lady Cats host the Odessa High Bronchos on Tuesday, Jan 10, at Central High School at 6:15 p.m.

TLCA EAGLES (16-5)(2-1)

The Eagles hosted the Clyde Bulldogs in San Angelo last Friday. Both teams battled back and forth for the entire game, but the Eagles claimed victory 60-58. The 2-point win put the Eagles over .500 in district play. 

The Eagles travel to Ballinger to play the Ballinger Bearcats on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

TLCA LADY EAGLES (2-14)(0-4)

The Lady Eagles fell to the Lady Bulldogs in Clyde in the early game 48-8. TLCA travels with the boys to Ballinger on Tuesday.

LAKE VIEW CHIEFS (5-15)

The Lake View Chiefs traveled to Llano to play the Llano Yellowjackets on Friday. Despite a back-and-forth battle for much of the first half, the Chiefs fell 62-45.

Lake View next plays the 1A No. 2 Irion County Hornets in Mertzon on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

LAKE VIEW MAIDENS (2-17)(0-1)

The Maidens made their way to Snyder to open up their district season against the Snyder Tigers last Friday. Lake View lost that one 53-15.

Lake View plays its district home opener against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.

WALL HAWKS (10-6)(3-0) AND LADY HAWKS (19-3)(4-1)

Both the Wall Hawks and Lady Hawks won their district matchups against the Ballinger Bearcats in Wall on Friday. The Lady Hawks played the early game and won 40-27. 

Brylyn Watts led the Lady Hawks with 21 points.

The Hawks played next and dominated their competition 53-23.

Augden Hallmark led the Hawks with 17 points.

Both teams travel to Coahoma on Tuesday to play another district matchup against the Coahoma Bulldogs, with the first game starting at 6:15 p.m.

CHRISTOVAL COUGARS (9-9)(3-0) AND LADY COUGARS (12-11)(4-1)

The Christoval Cougars beat the Water Valley Wildcats in a distract matchup last Friday 79-49. They travel to Sonora on Tuesday for another district game against the Broncos at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Wildcats 43-15 on Friday. They also travel with the boys to Sonora on Tuesday to face the Lady Broncos.
