Texas A&M to Hire Offensive Coordinator Bobby Petrino

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Aggies are hiring Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator after a disappointing season.

Aggie Head Coach Jimbo Fischer is bringing in Petrino not only as offensive coordinator but offensive play caller. Fischer will still be involved in the TAMU offensive.

Petrino has been an offensive coordinator at Carroll, Weber State, Idaho, Arizona State, Utah State, Nevada, Louisville, and was the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator at one point. As a head coach, he has been at Louisville a couple of times, Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri State and in the NFL as the Atlanta Falcons head coach.

Petrino was hired as the UNLV offensive coordinator in December 2022 and Rebel's Head Coach Barry Odom has confirmed Petrino is leaving.

As a coach, Petrino has been successful everywhere and even had a Heisman winner, Lamar Jackson at Louisville. His career does come with some controversy. In 2007 as the Falcons coach, he left the team with a 3-10 record with three games remaining for Arkansas. Speaking of, Petrino was fired from Arkansas in 2012 when he was involved in a motorcycle crash while with a female staffer who he was having an affair with.

Texas A&M underperformed this season going 5-7 and missing a bowl game. Offensively, the Aggies were next to last nationally in points per game (22.8) caused by off-the-field issues and injuires.
