Book had a fantastic season for the Bulldogs, going 162-253 for 2,435 yards, 38 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He added 384 yards and 13 touchdowns that ended up putting Book at 51 total touchdowns for the year.
“He had 51 touchdowns,” Miles Head Coach Jayson Wilhelm said, “That’s kind of a crazy number. The thing that sticks out to me is his accuracy.”
This season, Book had a 64% completion percentage and threw the ball over 250 times. He ended up with a quarterback rating of 125.2 for the season.
What is more impressive is that he didn’t play the entire game some weeks. Miles shut out four opponents, scoring 69, 52, 28, and 81 in those games. In the four other regular season wins, the closes score was in week two against Sterling City where Miles came back after halftime to win 40-21. That 19 points was the closest winning margin all season. Against Sterling City, Winters, Roscoe, and Cross Plains, the Bulldogs beat them by an average of 35.5 points.
In the opening round of the playoffs, Miles drew the Sterling City Eagles again but lost 43-42 at Clayton Weishuhn Field in Wall, Texas.
