ARLINGTON, TEXAS— The no. 16 Tulane Green Wave won the Cotton Bowl on Monday, Jan. 2, against the Heisman Trophy Award winner, Caleb Williams, and the no. 10 USC Trojans.
Down 28-14 at the half, Tulane scored 32 points in the second half to take the victory. On second and goal with :12 seconds left; Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt found Alex Bauman across the middle in the endzone. Originally, the ref called the pass incomplete but upon further review, it was ruled a catch and touchdown to tie the game at 45. After a successful kick, Tulane took the lead, 46-45.

Tulane’s Pratt was 8-17 for 234 yards and two touchdowns and running back Tyjae Speares ended the game with 210 yards and four touchdowns.
Heisman winner, USC’s Caleb Williams threw 37-51 for 459 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. All USC could manage on the ground was 32 yards and one score. Ultimately, the inability to run the ball gave Tulane the opportunity they needed to get back into the game.
This is Tulane's seventh bowl game victory and first since 2000.
