SAN ANGELO, TX — Three Concho Valley Basketball teams saw action on Tuesday, Dec. 20. The TLCA Eagles' Basketball team traveled to Tuscola on Tuesday evening at 7:45 p.m. to take on the Jim Ned Indians in their district opener. The Wall Hawks Boys and Girls' Basketball teams hosted the Grape Creek Eagles at Wall High School during the afternoon.
In a game where several of TLCA's players were sick, the Eagles struggled to maintain their usual numbers. Drew Sherril played exceptionally well despite the adversity and led the Eagles with 20 points.
After only scoring 18 points in the first half, the Eagles fell to the Indians after a back-and-forth game 44-35. While losing a district game is never good, TLCA needs to get healthy so they can get back on track by the time the New Year rolls around.
The Wall Hawks Boys and Girls also saw action Tuesday when they hosted the Grape Creek Eagles on Tuesday, at Wall High school.
The Lady Hawks played first and dismantled grape creek in their first games since their loss to Jim Ned. Wall smothered Grape Creek on defense, and the eagles failed to keep the ladies from scoring. Wall won, 59-23. The Lady Hawks return to action before the turn of the new year for a tournament on Dec. 27.
The Hawks took to the court next and had similar results. The tough defense forced Grape Creek to turn the ball over all afternoon as wall won big, 70-21. The Hawks also have a tournament scheduled before New Year’s Day on Dec. 29.
