SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Central Bobcats (13-3) and Lady Cats (10-7) saw action last week, Dec. 12-16, against multiple teams, both home and away. The Bobcats went 1-1, while the Lady Cats went 2-0 as both teams continued to work through their non-district schedules.
CENTRAL BOBCATS
The ‘Cats had two away games last week against challenging opponents that helped them prepare for the meatgrinder that will be their district schedule. First, the Bobcats traveled to Lubbock last Monday, Dec. 12, to play the Lubbock Cooper Pirates in Lubbock. The ‘Cats took care of business and left Lubbock with a victory, 61-58.
Jacob English and his brother, Christian English, led the Bobcats with 18 points a piece. Kollin Allbright added 13 points in the victory.
The JV fell to the Pirates 57-47.
The Freshman Team fell to Lubbock Cooper 48-34.
Next, the ‘Cats traveled to Kerrville to battle the Kerrville Tivy Antlers on Friday, Dec. 16. After a grueling back and forth, the Bobcats fell 69-67.
Kollin Allbright had 23 points, and Christian English had 15 points.
The JV fell to Tivy 59-51
Freshman Orange lost 58-43, and the Freshman Blue Team beat the Lake View Chiefs 55-47
The San Angelo Central Bobcats return to action for the Snyder Tiger Canyon Reef Classic on Wednesday, Dec 28, in Snyder, Tx.
LADY CATS
The Lady Cats went 2-0 last week against the Big Spring Steers and Midland Christian Mustangs. First, the Lady Cats hosted Big Spring at home on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and defeated the Lady Steers 64-28. The Lady Cats dominated Big Spring on the boards and defense. Central outrebounded Big Spring 37-21 and had 22 steals.
On Friday, Dec. 16, the Lady Cats traveled to Midland to play the Midland Christian Mustangs. The ‘Cats dominated the Mustangs in every aspect of the game and went home after a decisive victory, 70-13. The Lady Cats shot 42% from the floor and played one of their best games of the 2022 season.
San Angelo Central hosts the Seminole Indians on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Central High School at noon.
