UPDATE: Austin Police Claim Coach Beard Choked a Woman

AUSTIN, TX – New information released by the Austin Police Department on Monday afternoon claims that Coach Beard was arrested after choking a woman.

As previously reported, on Dec. 12, head coach of the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team Chris Beard was arrested for assault to a family member by impeding breath. For the original story see:

During the initial report it was not revealed who Beard chocked, but new information leads readers to suspect it being his current girlfriend, former Texas Tech volleyball player Randi Trew.

"On December 12, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) received a 9-1-1 call for a disturbance in the 1900 block of Vista Lane. The caller reported the disturbance was no longer ongoing and one of the individuals had left the house. APD officers responded and located a woman who stated she had been assaulted and strangled by Christopher Michael Beard," stated the Austin Police Department.

Coach Beard and his attorney claim that Beard is innocent. "Coach Beard is 100 per cent innocent of these charges. He should never have been arrested," Beard's Attorney, Perry Minton told the Austin American Statesman. "The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable.”

It is unknown this time if Beard has been released.
