ARLINGTON- Six football games were played last night, and we now have some of our state finalists for Texas High School Football.
Brock, Malakoff, Edna, Franklin, Hawley, Crawford, Albany, New Home, Burton, Mart, Refugio, and Timpson all played last night and now the first few days, with the exception of 3A-2, of the State Championships are set.
Brock over Malakoff 21-10
The Brock Eagles started off the year 0-4 and have won every game since. Malakoff lost in week two then shut out four different opponents all season until losing to Brock.
Franklin over Edna 41-13
Franklin is a perfect 15-0 this season and beat the former state champs Lorena Leopards during the season. Edna lost one game during the regular season to Refugio in week three.
Albany over New Home 53-25
The Albany Lions put on a show last night against New Home in Sweetwater. Albany has only lost to Hawley and Comanche, both being bigger schools than Albany is. New Home lost their first game this season then went on a 13-game winning streak.
Mart over Burton 41-14
Mart is another perfect team still in playing football and not only are the 15-0, but they’ve only given up 96 points all season long including the playoffs while putting up 855 points. Burton went on a tear in the playoffs, allowing only seven points in the first four games of the postseason.
Now, a state title is on the line and the next time these teams, and the six-man teams, take the field, it will be in AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
