TCU Headed to CFB Playoff Despite Loss in Big 12 Title Game

FORT WORTH, TX — The TCU Horned Frogs are headed to the college football playoff after the NCAA’s College Football Selection committee announced the end of season national rankings.

  1. Georgia
  2. Michigan
  3. TCU
  4. Ohio State

The Horned Frogs fell in the final seconds of the Big 12 championship game on Saturday, Dec. 3, to the No. 9 Kansas State Wildcats, 31-28. Faced with an opportunity to go ahead by seven in overtime, TCU went for it on 4th and goal at the Wildcats’ 1-yard line. K-State stonewalled the Horned Frogs and kicked the game-winning field goal on the ensuing possession.

The 1-loss Horned Frogs were not penalized for losing a championship game in overtime and held the no. 3 spot over teams like no. 5 Alabama who remained idle over championship week.

TCU will square off against Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday, Dec. 31st at 3 p.m.

Georgia will play Ohio State in the Peach Bowl at the Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, Dec. 31st at 7 p.m.
