SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams (5-1) began conference action over the weekend when they played two games at the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center in San Angelo.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, the Rams played the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas (5-3). Angelo State won decisively, 86-74. The Rams outshot the Javelinas 52% from the floor to Kingsville’s 38%. Angelo State’s Kevon Godwin led the Rams with 31 points from 10 of 18 shooting.
Angelo State next hosted Texas A&M International (5-3) on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Rams trailed for a total of 48 seconds the entire game, and won easily, 71-63. Kevon Godwin led the Rams for the second game in a row with 19 points. He made three three-pointers and made four out of six free throws.
Angelo State continues to out-rebound their opponents, 6-6 games this year and continued the streak with 41 rebounds to A&M International’s 28.
The Rams return to action on the road over the weekend, Dec. 8th and 10th, when they travel to play two road Lone Stary Conference games.
They play the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions (4-4) on Thursday, Dec. 8, in Fort Smith, Ark. at 7:30 p.m. Then, they travel to Oklahoma City, Ok. to play the Oklahoma Christian Eagles (4-3) on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m.
