Lake View Chiefs Basketball Falls to Lamesa

LAMESA, TX — The Lake View Chiefs (3-2) made their way up to Lamesa to play the Lamesa Tornadoes (1-1) on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Chiefs stuck with the Tornadoes throughout the first half but missed several shots in the second that allowed the Tornadoes to pull away. Lake View lost 74-46.

Lake View got out to a hot start and led at the end of the first quarter. Carlos Robledo hit two 3’s and two free throws to give the Chiefs the early advantage. However, Lamesa battled back in the second quarter, out-scoring the Chiefs 20-7. At halftime, Lake View trailed 34-22.

The Chiefs played much better in the 3rd quarter, hanging with the Tornadoes, but again, shots did not fall in the 4th quarter, and the Chiefs dropped their second game of the season.

Head Coach Courtney Bliskey said after the game, "We turned them over but failed to capitalize. The difference was transition. We missed too many of ours, and they made theirs."

Lake View shot much better from the free-throw line against Lamesa. Free throw's almost cost the Chiefs the game against Ballinger. The Chiefs went 11-11 from the line.

Leading Scorers

  • Tony Cabrera led the Chiefs with 14 points. Carlos Robledo finished the game with 8 points.

The Lake View JV lost their matchup 70-39. However, one of their leading scorers is out with an ankle injury. The JV is 3-1 on the season.

The Chiefs Freshman squad fell to Lamesa 44-41 in a back-and-forth game down to the wire. The Freshman team is 3-2 on the year.
