ABILENE — The San Angelo Central Bobcats boys basketball team (3-0) traveled up to Abilene to take on the Abilene High Eagles (1-5) Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Bobcats led the entire way and traveled back to San Angelo with a comfortable 60-43 victory.
The ‘Cats outperformed the Eagles on defense, forcing turnovers and bad shots from Abilene High. Kolin Albright continues to dominate for the Bobcats. Yesterday, he had two blocks and forced several turnovers that the ‘Cats turned into points in transition. He also added 16 points to his season’s total.
The welcome addition of Jaeyden Gipson, Jacob English, and Jacoby Yates from the football team immediately impacted the Bobcats’ performance. English scored several baskets off the fast break, Yates had several steals that turned into points, and Gipson almost led the ‘Cats in scoring.
Leading Scorers
- Kolin Albright led the Bobcats with 16 points. Jaeyden Gipson followed close behind with 15 points.
Defense
- Central’s defense forced the Eagles to shoot 27% from the field. They added 14 steals and two blocks.
The JV Boys beat the Eagles 64-45
The Freshman team fell to Abilene High 48-46.
San Angelo Central (3-0) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 26, when they host the Cole (San Antonio) Cougars (4-3) in San Angelo at 1:15 p.m.
