Angelo State Hosts Central Washington this Weekend

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 2 Angelo State Rams (9-0)(7-0) host the Central Washington Wildcats (5-3)(5-2) on Senior Night, Saturday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. This Lone Star Conference matchup is the Rams’ final home game of the 2022 regular season at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field in San Angelo. 

SERIES HISTORY: Angelo State Rams vs. Central Washington Wildcats

  • All-Time Series: Angelo State leads 1-0 
  • Last Meeting: Sep. 25, 2021, Angelo State 14-9
  • In 2021: The Rams went on the road against the Wildcats and scored with a minute to go to pick up the win 14-9.

Last week, the Rams traveled to the Pacific Northwest and shut out the Simon Fraser Red Leafs 24-0. Angelo State’s defense picked up the second shutout of its 2022 campaign. 

Sophomore Kason Phillips led the Rams on offense with 111 yards on the ground, 44 yards receiving, and two touchdowns. RB Nate Omayebu III added 12 carries for 78 yards. QB Zach Bronkhorst went 18/30 passing for 190 yards.

Central Washington upset the No. 20 Texas A&M Kingsville 23-19. The Wildcats have the Lone Star conference’s 3rd ranked defense allowing 19.1 points per game and 296.8 yards per game. The Wildcats’ most potent weapon this year is Tre’ Henderson. He leads the team with 11 rushing touchdowns and averages 107.5 yards per game.
