SAN ANGELO, TX — Dave Campbell’s Texas High School Football weekly state rankings dropped yesterday, and several West Texas teams remain on the list.
The Wall Hawks (8-1)(4-0) remained no. 10 in 3A Division II after their 10-7 win against Early High Schoo (5-4)l last week. Wall plays its season finale in Brady this Friday, Nov. 4, against the Brady Bulldogs (5-4)(3-1) and hopes to claim an outright district championship.
The Irion County Hornets (8-0)(3-0) also remain steady in the top 10 of the 1A/Six-Man Division I rankings at no. 8. Irion County continues to have an incredibly successful season this year and can finish the regular season undefeated this week with a win over the Veribest Falcons (2-8)(1-2).
Only two hours east, the Brownwood Lions (8-2)(4-0) climbed up a spot to no. 9 (from no. 10) in 4A Division I after defeating the Andrews Mustangs (5-4)(1-2) 47-3 last week. This team has shredded much of the opposition that they faced this year. Brownwood is on a bye week this week. The Lions are in the same district as the Lake View Chiefs and are in one of the most challenging divisions in 4A this season.
