No. 2 Angelo State Rams Continue Dominance with Shutout Performance

BLAINE, WA – The No. 2-ranked Angelo State football team blanked Simon Fraser on Saturday night, defeating the Red Leafs 24-0 on the road on Saturday night.
With the win, the Rams improve to 9-0 overall on the season and 7-0 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Rams faked out the Red Leafs for the first score of the game, running a fake field goal as Cade Fuller took the hold for nine yards to the quarter of the endzone for a touchdown.
Later in the first quarter, the Rams drove the ball close to the goal line before Kason Philips ran in from four yards out to make it a 14-0 lead for ASU.
After a pass interference call kept ASU's drive alive, the Rams added a field goal as Asa Fuller converted on a 21-yard attempt to extend the advantage in the second quarter.
SFU nearly got on the board towards the end of the quarter, attempting a field goal before it was blocked by Kason McCullough-Cooper who kept the Red Leafs scoreless.
The Rams tallied 336 yards of total offense in an even attack of 184 rushing yards and 155 passing.
ASU opened the second half with another score from Philips who ran it in from six yards out to go up 24-0 over the Red Leafs for the only score of the second half.
Philips finished with a game-high in both rushing and receiving yards, collecting 111 yards on the ground with two scores along with four catches for 44 yards. Zach Bronkhorst finished with 190 passing yards on 18 completions while Nate Omayebu III added 71 yards rushing.
ASU's defense picked up its second shutout of the season and has allowed only one offensive touchdown in the last four games. Stephen Woods was the leading tackler for the Rams with four on the night while Daron Allman and Eric Rascoe each picked up a sack.
The Rams will be back at home next weekend for the final regular-season home game against Central Washington on Saturday, Nov. 5.
