UPDATE: UIL Forces Frenship to Forfeit Win Over Central

LUBBOCK, TX – The Central Bobcats may luck out this season as their first district loss against the Frenship Tigers could be overturned.

According to UIL documents, today (Oct. 13), an emergency meeting was called with the UIL's State Executive Committee to discuss a possible UIL violation.

During the meeting, the committee will discuss whether or not Frenship High School will forfeit their football win against San Angelo Central High.

Central lost against the Tigers 49-32 on Sep. 24. 

The committee will discuss an allegation that an ineligible Frenship player participated in the game despite being suspended. The suspension was from being ejected during a previous game.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. More updates will be available then.

The UIL State Executive Committee voted 3-0-1 on enforcing Frenship High School to forfeit their win against San Angelo Central.

During the meeting, the Frenship Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Jay Northcutt attempted to evade the charge by denying that they knew of the rule. UIL Director of Compliance Darryl Beasley claims the rules were presented during their mandatory annual coaches training.

"If you don't read the manual then I can't help you," said Beasley.

This moves Central to 2-1 on the district season which will likely boost their postseason chances.
