Honor ACU's Historic Tournament Run

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Christian University Men’s Basketball Team will celebrate the historic run by the team with its fans this week.

On Wednesday, March 31, Coach Joe Golding and team members will speak to fans at Siggie Pavilion Park, located on ACU's campus, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The ACU Wildcats Men’s team won the Southland Conference and automatically received a berth into the NCAA March Madness Tournament.

They went on to beat the University of Texas 53-52. A foul by Texas’ Matt Coleman put ACU’s Joe Pleasant on the free throw line with 1.2 seconds remaining in the game. Texas had a one point lead until Pleasant knocked down both free throws to make the score 53-52 ACU. A desperate inbound chuck was grabbed by ACU’s Pleasant that ended the game.

This was the first NCAA Tournament win by the ACU Men’s team ever and second appearance in school history.

ACU advanced to the next round and played UCLA but lost 67-47.

The first 1,000 fans get free ice cream and the team will give autographs and pictures as well.
