Coronavirus Cancels Abilene Cooper Football Game on Friday

ABILENE, TX -- The Abilene Cooper Cougars have postponed their game against the Fort Worth Brewer Bears amid coronavirus concerns.

According to Abilene ISD, on Monday four students and four staff members tested positive. There are currently 19 active COVID=19 cases at the high school.

“Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and well-being of the players and staff at Cooper – as well as the safety of those players and staff from Brewer – this week’s game has been postponed,” said AISD Director of Athletics Phil Blue. “We will monitor the situation over the next week and will continue to adhere to the health and safety protocols set out in the AISD Reopening Plan.”

The game will be rescheduled for a later date by the District 3-5A Executive Committee.
