How Is Your Favorite High School Football Team Stacking Up After Week 3?

SAN ANGELO, TX – This weekend high school football will be filled with great matchups including the start of 5a and 6a football.

What Will the Bobcats Look Like?

The Central Bobcats, led by senior quarterback Malachi Brown, will face off against Kileen Shoemaker. Last year Shoemaker and Central faced off against each other to start the year. Unfortunately for the Bobcats it was a tough first game and they lost big 54-21. What does this mean for this year? Last year was Brown's first full season leading the offense so it is expected that he be more confident with his game. In his first outing against Shoemaker, Brown had 300+ yards passing and around 75 yards rushing. He managed to score three touchdowns but he threw four interceptions. Now with more experience Brent Davis is looking for him to step up and have the game everyone is expecting. Also the Bobcats this year will have an extremely large and powerful defensive line and a variety of different running backs.

Can Lake View Bounce Back or Is This It?

Year after year the boys from the North Side of San Angelo gets everyone's hopes up by winning a number of games early in the season. Last year the chiefs started 3-0 and finished the season 3-8. This year seems to be no different. The Chiefs won their first two games against Lamesa and Pecos. They have now lost two straight and the question that's begun to loom "Will they bounce back or is this it?" If you are one of those optimistic fans don't worry here is some good news. The Chiefs play Brownfield in Week 5. Last year they lost in a nail biter by one point on the road against the Cubs. This year they play at home, Brownfield is 0-3, and QB Albert Rodriguez has been looking better and better every week.

Is MOJO Ready for the Cougs?

The real question should be are the Coogs ready for MOJO. Odessa Permian was first place in their district and went two rounds deep into playoffs before meeting powerhouse Arlington Martin who beat the Panthers 71-28. Mojo is expected to win this game and with a new QB1 Terry Harper. Abilene Cooper, who finished second in district last year, just came off a loss to Central in their scrimmage so should be looking for a fight.

How Do the Rebels Stack Up Against the Little Southwest Conference?

Down the highway the Midland Football Team (Midland Lee Rebels) will host the Amarillo Sandies to open the season. The Rebels stack up will with anyone they play. After only losing to thier rivals Odessa Permian last year, the Rebels are back and looking to make an impact especially with QB1 Mikey Serrano and junior running back Makhilyn Young leading the charge. Odessa Permian, and Central it will be tough year for any team to walk away with the championship.

Will the Hawks Be Ready for Another Round of Christians?

The Hawks have been rolling through just about everyone. Well everyone that doesn't love the Christ that is. All jokes aside Wall has been winning games by more than 21 points and playing their second-stringer for their fourth quarters. One of the most talented teams in the state Cornerstone Christian was the only team that has even put up a fighting chance against Wall and they pretty much beat them in every phase of the game. The final score was 24-6. Wall did bounce back last week with a dominating win over their longtime rival Mason 42-7. This week though they will play another private school, Midland Christian, who is kicking off their season. Last year Midland Christian was 7-5 and only lost to Cornerstone Christian 17-14.

Who Will Win the Battle of Highway 277?

For the first time in 10 years, Eldorado and Sonora will be playing each other. Both towns are less than 30 miles apart and were one-time district rivals. Although this new generation won’t have that same rivalry, it is almost certain family members in the stands will feel it. Eldorado is 1-3 while Sonora is 0-4.

Who's the Best Team at Jerry's World?

This weekend there will be a number of games to be played at ATT Stadium. This is a great advantage for some of these teams who will more than likely be here in December. One game will be Arlington Martin vs Denton Ryan. These two teams are always fighting to get to the state championships. Last year Martin walked through the first two rounds of the playoffs demolishing Central 69-0 then Permian 71-28. They then met Duncanville and lost 45-17 one game before the State Championship.  Another game is Longview vs Temple. Longview won the State Championship two years ago and are looking to get a good start to their campaign. Across the street Arlington Lamar will play Euless Trinity at newly built Globe Life Park.

What are Some Other Good Games?

Other top games of the week include: Amarillo Tascosa vs Abilene, FW Nolan Catholic vs. Duncanville,Galena Park North Shore vs. Alvin Shadow Creek, Brownwood vs. Abilene Wylie, Midland vs. Wichita Falls Rider, Dumas vs. Stephenville, Ballinger vs. Llano, Borden County vs. Water Valley, and Calvert vs. Rankin.

Where Should I Watch All of These Games and More?
