ARLINGTON, TX — The teams are about to face off at 3 p.m. Saturday for the Texas High School UIL Football 6A Division 1 championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and each side is missing a key player.
Last week, in the semifinal game against Rockwall, Duncanville's QB1 Ja'Quinden Jackson tore his left ACL. He is out for the season. Jackson led a loaded Panther team back to a 15-0 record and the championship game this year. He had 1,711 yards 21 touchdowns in the air in addition to 1,030 yards and 16 rushing TD's. Duncanville freshman quarterback Chris Parson will lead the Panthers in today’s game against Galena Park North Shore.
Duncanville head coach Reginald Samples talked about Jackson’s injury and his confidence in Chris Parson in last week’s #COVER1 episode.
North Shore will face Duncanville in today’s rematch without its star running back Zach Evans. According to the Houston Chronicle, Evans was suspended from the team for breaking team rules regarding the use of his cell phone. Evans is a highly sought college football recruit with offers from schools across the country. Last year, in the championship game against Duncanville, Evans rushed for 96 yards.
