Former Rams Star Drafted By XFL

ST. LOUIS, MO — Former Angelo State star defensive end Markus Jones was picked up by the St. Louis BattleHawks during the XFL's second inaugural draft Tuesday.

Jones was selected during the Open Draft: Phase 1 portion of the draft and joins the likes of former Texas A&M running back Christine Michael and Texas O-lineman Kent Perkins in St. Louis.

Following his senior season with the Rams, Jones was named first team all conference, first team all region, Defensive Player of the Year in the conference and region, D2CCA Defensive Player of the Year, AFCA First Team All America, and Associated Press First Team All America. He was also named the Lone Star Conference Male Athlete of the Year.

After graduating, the Baltimore Ravens signed Jones as an undrafted free agent in April 2019.  He was cut by the Green Bay Packers in early September.
