SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Lake View Chiefs hosted the Fort Stockton Panthers at San Angelo Stadium for the Chief's Homecoming Friday Night but it did not end well.
The Chiefs started out with the ball. Lake View’s WR Johnny Espinosa and QB Albert Rodriguez started cooking early. Espinosa pulled in one for thirty yards and Lake View looked as if they were going to capitalize on the first drive. It ended however due to a bad snap on third down that made it fourth and forever so they punted.
The panthers started the ball on their own 49-yard-line and moved the ball more than forty yards on their first three plays. This put them at first and goal from the seven. It took them three plays and on third down the Panthers QB Dominic Aguilar looked for a pass right but kept it for a four-yard touchdown. Panther led 7-0 with 7:48 left in the first quarter.
The next drive was a three and out for Chiefs and on the final play Rodriguez got sacked and then said a few choice words that got him a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. They punted the ball and it only went to their 30-yard-line.
This did not look good for the chiefs after all with this good field position it is hard not to score. The Chiefs defense did stand up to the challenge though. They forced it to third down on the first set of sticks and then after the next three downs on the goal line they forced the Panthers to attempt a field goal. The Chiefs blocked the field goal attempt and started at their 16-yard line.
The defense did not carry over to the offense as Rodriguez and company were held to another three and out that ended with a sack to Rodriguez. They were forced to punt but did not let the Panther’s return man catch the ball after he called for a fair catch. This penalty had Fort Stockton starting at the Lake View 20-yard line.
The Panthers took advantage of the field position this time as RB Gabe Calzada had an 18-yard run that was followed by Aguilar running up the middle for his second touchdown of the game. After the missed extra point, Lake View trailed 13-0 with :44 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Panthers started their next drive on their 17-yard line. After a 21-yard run by Aj Garcia and then a Facemask penalty by the Chiefs put Ft Stockton back in scoring position. The defense came through again to save the drive and third down stop the Panthers punted it to the 29-yard line where the Chiefs took over.
The next drive looked rough for Lake View. Rodriguez was sacked again and was forced out on only three downs. The punt started with a bad snap that was grabbed, punted, and blocked. Lake View did jump on the ball but the Panthers started at the Chief’s 15-yard line.
The Lake View defense caused a three and out after their red zone defense continued to smother the opposition. The Panthers attempted another field goal but it was missed far right.
Finally a ray of hope shined upon the chiefs. Espinosa caught the ball and took it 80-yards on the second play of the drive. They made the extra point which made the score 13-7 with 2:35 left.

The next drive for the Panthers was pound it out football. They ran it on every single play and after five plays RB Clayton Foster found the end-zone for a 33-yard touchdown. This increased their lead to 33-14.
The chiefs went three and out on the following drive despite a completion to Tristan Franklin. They punted and the Panthers took over at the 30-yard line.
After two play it looked as if the Chiefs were going to get off the field. Aguilar threw a pass that looked as if it would be incomplete until Elizard Lopez caught the ball behind the defenders back. Foster then got his second touchdown of the game by running it 20-yards. They continued to build to their score at 39-14.
The Chiefs next drive started with a completion to the right side to Cesarez. Then RB Xzavier Talamentez had a 12-yard run to get them the first down.
Rodriguez was hit while he was thrown on first and got a roughing the passer call which set them up in the Panthers side of the field.
This is when Rodriguez threw his first interception of the game and guess who caught it. The opposing QB Aguilar.
The Panthers at this time took Aguilar out of the game and put in backup Erik Bislar.
Lake View then had back to back penalty, the first being offside and then a passing interference that had the Panther on the seven.
Two plays later backup QB Bislar ran it right up the middle for a touchdown. Lake View trailed 46-14 with 30 second left in the third quarter.

This made the referee tag him with an unsportsmanlike conduct and put them in horrible field position. They eventually got no where and was forced to punt.
The punt rolled until the 36-yard line and Fort Stockton once again started with tremendous field position.
Fort Stockton continued to run with their second string. They pounded it on every play and eventually scored on a 23 yard run by Jaylee Ibarra. Panthers 60 Chiefs 14 with 5:03 left in the game.
