AUSTIN, TX -- The Robert Lee Lady Steers golf team highlighted a stellar showing by Concho Valley schools at the UIL state golf tournament Monday and Tuesday, bringing home a team title from the Lions Municipal Golf Course in the state's capitol.
The team of Kelby Clawson, Aimee Zimmermann,Autumn Ramon, Braylee Hood and Jade Laxton won the Class 1A tournament with a two-day score of 796 strokes.
After the first day, they were tied with Clyde Eula at 405 strokes. The Lady Steers then dropped 14 strokes off their game to shoot a combined 391. Aimee Zimmerman helped the Lady Steers' cause by shaving 10 strokes off her day one score to shoot an 88 and tie Kelby Clawson for the team's best mark on day two.
The Garden City Lady Bearkats and Sterling City Lady Eagles finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The Garden City team of Logan Wood, Emily Braden, Kylie Seidenberger, Kadie Dalton and Claire Fuchs shot a combined 837 over the two days, just one stroke shy of third place Lenorah Grady.
Sterling City's team of Dally Coulter, Scarlot Longoria, MaKinzee Woods, Kiely Johnson and Kateland Karnes shot a two-day score of 854 for a fifth place finish.
Central freshman Ryann Honea turned in scorecards of 76 and 78 in the Class 6A tournament at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown. Her combined score of 174 would put her in a three-way tie for 31st place.
Brady's Rylee Meyers used a phenomenal day two to finish in the top 15 of the Class 3A tournament. After shooting and opening round 92, Meyers turned in an 84 on day two to finish 13th.
Christoval's Jaclyn Biggerstaff competed at the Class 2A tournament and turned in a two-day score of 192.

Their home course is tough with narrow fairways tucked side by side. Almost impossible to stay on the right one.
