WALL, TX -- The Wall Lady Hawks closed out the 2019 regular season with a 10-0 win over Reagan County in five innings on Tuesday. The win was Wall's 10th in a row.
It's the first time Wall has had a 10-game streak since they won 14 games in a row from March 10 to May 4. That streak would end in the Lady Hawks' record-breaking series with Alpine in the regional quarterfinals.
Wall's win was marked by a stellar outing by junior pitcher Izzy Vera. Vera allowed four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. She would also go 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
Leading the way offensively were Ashlynn Box and Taylor Hunt. The duo combined for four hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Box's 2-for-3 day extended her on-base streak to 48 games and her hit streak to 23 games.
Nivea Goodloe, Kaylee Vargas, Brooklyn Hurt and Mia Cervantes each had one hit for Reagan County.
Elissa Gallegos took the loss in the circle after allowing six runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout in three innings of work.
Wall (12-16, 10-2) will now make their 11th straight postseason appearance. They will face the fourth place team from District 3-3A. As the district sits with one game left to play, that opponent would be Crane, who Wall beat in the 2018 bi-district playoff.
Reagan County finishes the year 11-8 overall and 5-7 in district play.
