REPORT: Jim Eubank Out After First Year at Veribest

VERIBEST, TX -- A Veribest ISD school board vote last night reportedly voted not to bring head girl's basketball coach Jim Eubank back after the end of the year.

Superintendent Ryan Appleton returned our phone call and declined to confirm or deny that a decision was made against Eubank since it is a personnel matter. However, he said anyone who attended the meeting last night would know what happened.

A source close to the matter said the decision was 6-1 against Eubank. The source said Eubank and his daughter will finish out the year.

We reached out to Eubank for comment and have not had our request returned at the time of publication.

Eubank led the Veribest Lady Falcons to their best season in school history with a 23-7 record and the program's first regional tournament berth. That run led to Eubank being named our All-Concho Valley Coach of the year.

So, you take a team farther than they have ever been and you're sacked after one season? What gives? It obviously wasn't Eubank's methods, so one must assume it was some personal issue with him or his daughter. Coach Eubank, you did a great job in Veribest and will do well wherever you land, Godspeed.
