AREA BASEBALL: No. 2 Wall Dominant Against Non-District Foe Miles

 

MILES, TX -- The no. 2-ranked Wall Hawks picked up their 20th win of the season in a 17-0 rout of Miles in five innings on Tuesday.

The Hawks picked up the win behind three stellar innings from senior Ryan Gully. The Weatherford College-bound senior allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five in three scoreless frames. He also went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI.

Caleb Heuertz highlighted a five-run first inning with a two-run home run to left field. He would finish the game 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

After extending their lead to 8-0 in the second, Wall posted six more runs on six hits in the third inning.

Jake Jansa finished the day 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored. He was one of five Hawks with multiple RBIs in the win. Gage Weishuhn, Charlie Mascorro and Colton Diebitsch each had two RBIs for Wall.

Mason Bryan, Nicky Perez and Seth Michalewicz each had a hit for Miles.

Noel Sanchez was charged the loss for Miles after allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks in one inning of work.

Wall (20-0, 5-0) will travel to TLCA this Friday. Miles (8-10, 2-2) will host Goldthwaite this Friday.

Seventh Inning Explosion Seals Win for Central

The Central Bobcats used a seven-run inning to snap a three-game skid in an 11-5 win over Hurst Bell in District 3-6A on Tuesday.

Nixon Brannon highlighted the explosive day for the Bobcats, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a run scored. The only time he didn't reach base was on a strikeout.

Gunner Couch had a three-run double in that sixth inning to help Central get back in the win column.

Oscar Nino, Cole Nelson, Hayden Stevens and Jakob Charles each had two hits for the Bobcats.

Trey Neslage picked up the win after going 6 2/3 innings on the mound. He allowed five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts before making way for Jose Lazoya, who recorded the final out.

Central (15-9-1, 3-2) will return home to finish out the series with Bell this Friday.

Reagan County Walks Off Against TLCA

Pablo Hernandez's walk-off ground out was all that separated Reagan County and TLCA in a 4-3 win for the Owls on Tuesday.

Hernandez drove in Marco Flores in the seventh inning to pick up the win for the Owls.

Both teams matched each other by each scoring two runs in the first inning and one run in the fifth before Hernandez's walk-off.

Jacob Hernandez and Justin Chavez each had an RBI for the Owls. Sebastian Sandoval was the only Owl to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Harrison Ragan went 1-for-2 for TLCA, driving in the only two RBIs for the Eagles. Cameron Lawson had the only other hit for the Eagles.

Pablo Hernandez picked up the win on the mound for Reagan County after throwing a perfect 2/3 of an inning. Justin Chavez started and went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks with eight strikeouts.

Nathan Tapia took the loss for TLCA after 6 2/3 innings of work. He allowed four runs on six hits during that time.

Reagan County (11-7, 4-1) will travel to Brady this Friday. TLCA (2-11, 0-6) will host Wall this Friday.

Baronet K's 8 to Help Brady Down Ballinger

The Brady Bulldogs downed Ballinger 6-2 behind another solid outing from Kason Baronet.

Baronet went the full seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts to pick up the win. He didn't allow a run until the sixth inning when Ballinger plated their only two runs of the game. Baronet also went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI to help his own cause.

Dylan Rabion was the only other Bulldog to pick up an RBI in the win. Walker Bauer and Cody McBee each had a hit for Brady as well.

Jon Marcon was the highlight for Ballinger's offense, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Bradyn Bowman and Fernando Falcon each had a hit for Ballinger.

DJ Cavazos was charged with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits and four with six strikeouts.

Brady (10-8-1, 4-1) hosts Reagan County this Friday. Ballinger (4-14, 1-4) travels to Sonora this Friday.

Mason Run Rules Junction Behind Wofford's Stellar Showing

Senior Otto Wofford picked up four hits and three RBIs to help the Mason Puncher run rule Junction 10-0 in five innings.

Along with Wofford's stellar day at the plate, Tyson Keller picked up three RBIs for the Punchers' cause. Conner Leifieste also had two RBIs in the win.

The Punchers also allowed the Eagles just one hit and struck out seven in the dominant win on Tuesday. Collin Wallace picked up that lone hit for the Eagles.

Thomas Gleisner was charged with the loss for Junction after allowing eight runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings of work.

Mason (7-5, 5-0) will face Medina on April 2. Junction (2-9, 0-4) will host Medina on April 5.
