SAN ANGELO, TX -- The 2019 regular season ended much like it started for the Central Lady Cats with a 1-0 win over Euless Trinity to finish the season without a loss.
Central picked up the win behind senior goalkeeper Megan White's 20th shutout of the season and fellow senior Addison Bonaventure's second half goal.
Closing out the season with the seniors putting the proverbial cherry on top was a perfect way to head into the playoffs for head coach Benjamin Henry.
"They're a fantastic group of kids. I promised I wouldn't have a moment until the banquet," Henry joked. "But the goal was really pretty. You would plan on Addi to put it in and wrap it up on the district side of things. She's done that many times for us."
With senior day comes distractions for players. Despite not playing their best game in Henry's eye, the coach commended his team for fighting through that for a win against second place Euless Trinity.
"They collected themselves good and finished up strong," Henry said.
Now, the Lady Cats will turn their focus to the playoffs while riding this 22-game unbeaten streak. Setting that mark in a tough district is sure to keep Central's spirits high.
"It's always big to have confidence going into the playoffs," Henry said. "I believe these girls have confidence. They're not overconfident at all."
Central (17-0-5) will face Fort Worth Paschal on Friday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. from Abilene's Shotwell Stadium.
