March Madness Details Set for Former Central Star, ACU

ABILENE, TX -- When the NCAA Division I basketball championship tournament starts later this week, it will have a local flare.

Former Central Bobcat star Kolton Kohl and the Abilene Christian Wildcats won the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time after downing the University of New Orleans in Katy. That subsequently booked ACU's first-ever trip to the big dance.

So, who will the Wildcats face? None other than tournament blue blood Kentucky.

The two teams will meet in Jacksonville, Fla., this Thursday at 6:10 p.m. as part of the Midwest Regional, where North Carolina holds the top seed. The game will be televised nationally on CBS.

Kohl, a 2016 graduate of Central and 7-foot tall center, has appeared in 29 games with four starts this season for ACU, putting in 125 minutes and scoring 57 points.
