Christoval's Azul Salinas Named Offensive MVP, Eldorado's Korbin Covarrubiaz Newcomer in 7-2A

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Concho Valley was well-represented in the All-District 7-2A honors that were announced this week.

Highlighting area selections were Christoval's Azul Salinas and Eldorado's Korbin Covarrubiaz with their superlatives.

Salinas was named the offensive MVP after helping Christoval to a 43.6 points per game average that saw the Cougars into the playoffs for the 10th straight year.

Covarrubiaz followed his own lead after football season, where he was named District 8-2A DII Newcomer of the Year as well as All-Concho Valley Co-Newcomer of the Year. The freshman stepped up for an average of six points and 5.5 rebounds per game to put the Eagles in the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

Winter's junior Peyton Anderson was awarded the district's 6th Man Award after averaging 4.7 points per game to help Winters sneak into the fourth playoff spot from 7-2A.

Forsan swept the other three superlatives with Kobe Richardson being named District MVP, Zane Riffe named Defensive MVP and Cory Richardson named Coach of the Year.
