SAN ANTONIO, TX -- For the first time since 2006, the Concho Valley will be represented by two teams in the state tournament. Wall and Water Valley represented the Concho Valley that year.
No. 1-ranked Wall (32-1) beat Brock 56-49, and no. 3 Idalou 52-36 to claim the Class 3A region I title. The regional championship marked Wall's seventh state tournament appearance and third in the last six years. The Lady Hawks last appearance came in 2016, when they beat Brock for their second state title.
No. 2-ranked Mason (38-1) won the 2A region IV title by beating Shiner 47-34 and no. 7 San Saba 46-36 in San Marcos over the weekend. It's the second time in school history that the Cowgirls have made it to the state tournament. Mason made their first appearance in 2018, where they fell to Martin's Mill in the semifinals.
Here are the state semifinal pairings for Class 2A and 3A at the Alamodome in San Antonio:
Class 3A
- #2 Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (35-0) vs #1 Wall (32-1), Thursday, Feb. 28, 1:30 p.m.
- #4 Woodville (38-1) vs #7 Poth (29-5), Thursday, Feb. 28, 3:00 p.m.
Class 2A
- #1 Martin's Mill (37-0) vs #5 Panhandle (32-4), Friday, March 1, 8:30 a.m.
- #2 Mason (38-1) vs #12 Grapeland (28-8), Friday, March 1, 10:00 a.m.
