Hill, Central Boys Relay Qualify for State Swim Meet

 

LUBBOCK, TX -- The Central Bobcat swim team will get a chance at the UIL state swim meet in Austin next week.

Senior Riley Hill was the only individual qualifier for the Bobcats. He qualified for the state meet in the 100-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle at the Region I meet in Lubbock over weekend.

Hill turned in a time of 50.07 seconds over the weekend, which is good for the fourth seed at the state meet. He also finished in 20.92 seconds for the seventh seed in the 50-yard freestyle.

In addition to Hill, the Bobcats will have their 400-yard freestyle relay team at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The team finished in 3 minutes, 13 seconds at the regional meet to qualify for the state meet.

Senior swimmer Sophie Forbes is a Class 6A call up for the state meet. She completed the 50-yard freestyle in 24.3 seconds in Lubbock.

The state meet will be held Feb. 15 and 16.
