Mason, Wall Crack Top 10 Preseason Baseball Rankings

 

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Area teams will take to the diamond this month to begin practice for the 2019 baseball season.

Ahead of that, Texas High School Baseball released their preseason top 10 rankings for each classification. The publication made the announcement via Twitter. Mason and Wall each had a spot in their respective classifications.

Mason was named the no. 5 team in Class 2A. Wall was named the no. 7 team in Class 3A.

The Punchers coming off an 18-2-1 season that saw them run the table in District 29-2A with a 12-0 record. The Punchers also made their deepest run in baseball by advancing to the regional semifinals where they lost to eventual state champion Big Sandy.

The Hawks had another stellar playoff run in 2018, finishing the year with a district title and a 28-7-1 record. Their season ended after losing two games in the regional semifinal to Brock.

Wall will officially begin play on Feb. 18 against Midland Lee's JV team. That comes after four scrimmages.
