BALLINGER, TX-- The Jim Ned Lady Indians used six three pointers to down the Ballinger Lady Bearcats 45-26 on Thursday.
In the first quarter, Ballinger was held quiet and outscored 8-3. The Lady Cats' only points came on a three pointer from Jenna Battle. Meanwhile, Jim Ned's Jenna Moore drained a pair of threes to lead the Lady Indians in the first quarter.
Then Jim Ned benefited from four trips to the free throw line to outscore the Lady Cats 14-7. Freshman Emma Toliver highlighted the quarter with a three pointer. Jadyn Gore led the way with four points in the quarter, but Ballinger still trailed 22-10 at the break.
For a while, it looked like Ballinger was going to keep pace with Jim Ned in the third. However, a buzzer-beater from Jim Ned extended the Lady Cats' deficit to 30-16.
The Lady Cats then played their best quarter by scoring 10 points in the fourth thanks to a pair of field goals from Sydney Bowman and Battle making a field goal and a pair of free throws.
Ballinger (14-12, 4-0) will next face Wall on Tuesday, Jan. 8, with first place in District 4-3A possibly on the line. Wall hosts Brady on Friday, Jan. 4.
