SAN ANGELO, TX-- Today marks the start of the early signing period for high school seniors moving on to play collegiately.
From Dec. 19 to Dec. 21, high school seniors can sign their National Letters of Intent. Some of these athletes will be early enrollees. However, not all of them will begin classes in January
Central's Maverick McIvor was one of the hundreds of athletes to sign across the nation. He's officially going to play for first year head coach Matt Wells at Texas Tech University.
The Red Raiders announced McIvor's signing at 8:00 a.m. The senior QB is expected to hold a signing ceremony at 6:00 p.m. today in the McCutchen Room at San Angelo Stadium.
Despite missing most of his senior campaign to a knee injury, McIvor will go down in Bobcat lore for what he did in three seasons on varsity.
The 6'3" gunslinger finished his career with 4,029 yards passing, 1,091 yards rushing, 547 yards receiving and 67 total touchdowns.
McIvor moved to San Angelo from six-man school Fort Davis ahead of his sophomore year. While serving as Cal Vincent's backup in 2016, McIvor also doubled as a slot receiver for the Bobcats. He made his presence known that year in the regional semifinal against Allen in 2016.
