SAN ANGELO, TX— The no. 3-ranked Mason Cowgirls traveled to the Ben Norton Gym and dominated the Lake View Maidens for a 64-29 victory.
The game started strong for Mason, as Jesse Armstrong scored 12 points in the quarter. At the end of the first the Cowgirls jumped out to a 23-5 lead.
The second quarter started in favor of the Maidens with them scoring all five of their points on a 5-0 run in the first few minutes.
Mason’s 3-point game in the the second was really what showed up with Tessa Guice hitting two threes to end the quarter on a 12-0 run.
At the end of the half, the score was 35-10 Cowgirls.
The Maidens played the best quarter in the third with them almost doubling their score total.They had eight points in the quarter.
They even cause a technical on Allie Guice for mason, but unfortunately missed both free throws.
As for Mason, they kept the same pace as they had the first half and held on to the lead 44-18.
The Cowgirls dominated the fourth quarter with perfect ball movement and a barrage of threes. Mason made four of their nine threes in the fourth.
Armstrong finished with 23 points.
Mason moves to 19-1 on the year with a home game against Fredericksburg's Heritage Christian School coming up this Friday. The Maidens fall to 2-13.
Fast Start Leads No. 2 Wall to Rout of Rival Sonora
The no. 2-ranked Wall Lady Hawks continued their hot season with a big district win. A combined 32 points from seniors Jayden Fiebiger and Samantha Rocha gave the Lady Hawks a 70-11 victory.
A 15-0 Lady Hawk run to start the game had Wall up big, early in the first. They wouldn’t look back. It wasn’t until 48 seconds remaining in the first quarter did Sonora finally get on the board with a pair of free throws. Wall held a 20-2 lead after one quarter of play.
The Lady Hawks relentless pressure the rest of half, along with senior forward Jayden Fiebiger’s 14 first half points, sent the Lady Hawks to halftime with a dominate 44-5 lead.
The second half of play was much of the same. The Lady Hawks continued their dominant play in the third quarter outscoring Sonora 16-1. The hot shooting of Wall was just too much for the Lady Broncos. Another dominant performance led to another big win for the Lady Hawks.
Lady Hawk seniors Jayden Fiebiger and Samantha Rocha led the way, both with 16 points.
Wall improves to 11-1 and 2-0 in district play for the year with their next game at Grape Creek on Friday. Sonora falls to 14-3 and 1-2 after suffering their second-straight loss. The Lady Broncos host Reagan County this Friday.
Central Lady Cats Win Fourth Straight to Stay Perfect in District
The Central Lady Cats were able to pick up a crucial district win on the road at Weatherford on Tuesday.
Central dominated Weatherford 54-20 for their fourth straight win. The win also moved them to 2-0 in district play.
The Lady Cats (14-3) will host Euless Trinity this Friday.
