BANK AND TRUST TOURNEY: Lady Broncos Hold Off Irion County Comeback for Title

 

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Sonora Lady Broncos capped off the seventh annual Bank and Trust Tournament with the tournament championship on Saturday.

The Lady Broncos beat the Irion County Lady Hornets 32-21 for the championship despite a furious fourth quarter comeback attempt by Irion County.

Sonora outscored Irion County 28-10 through the first three quarters. Irion County then found a rhythm to go on an 11-4 run in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.

Tournament MVP Brae Harris led the way for Sonora with 11 points. The junior also had six rebounds to her name.

Senior Mary Kyle Johnson had 10 points and eight rebounds in the win.

Johnson and Skylar Harris were named to the All-Tournament team along with Brae Harris

Sonora (13-1) next opens up District 4-3A play with a road game at Brady this Tuesday.

Irion County also opens up district play this Tuesday on the road at Bronte.

The Eldorado Lady Eagles also claimed third place in Sonora with a 58-50 win over Rocksprings.

Eldorado's Victoria Dehanis was also an All-Tournament selection.

The Lady Eagles face Rochelle in a non-district road game on Tuesday.

In the boy's bracket, Central's junior varsity claimed the tournament championship with a 64-32 rout of the Sonora Broncos.

Eldorado fell to Rocksprings 70-43 in the third place game.

Sonora's Evan Shannon was named to the All-Tournament team as well as the three-point champion. Jalen Lopez was also an All-Tournament selection for the Broncos.
