FOOTBALL PLAYOFF PAIRINGS: Fourth Round

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Two teams from the Concho Valley are playing well into December after advancing past the third round.

No. 1-ranked Mason (13-0) handled Wallis Brazos 52-14 in the San Antonio suburb of Converse. That set up a fifth consecutive meeting with Robert Lee native Jason Herring and his ninth-ranked Refugio Bobcats.

Garden City (13-0) put up a surprising win over Balmorhea to advance to the Class 1A Division I semifinals. The win itself wasn't the surprise. Rather, the dominance showed in the 48-14 win over a well-coached Balmorhea team was.

Wall's season ended in a 35-13 loss at the hands of rival Brock.

Here are the area pairings for the fourth round of the playoffs:

Class 2A Division I

Regional Final

  • Mason (13-0) vs Refugio (11-2); Friday, Dec. 7, 3:30 p.m. @ The Alamodome

Class 1A Division I

State Semifinals

  • Garden City (13-0) vs McLean (13-0); Saturday, Dec. 8, 2:00 p.m. @ Levelland's Lobo Stadium
